SWEA Raises Over $4,500
For Haiti Relief
SWEDESBORO — Members of
the Swedesboro-Woolwich Education Association put those words, Respect,
Responsibility, Caring into action by leading “A Dollar a Day for Haiti”
fund drive throughout the district, culminating in the collection of
$4596.51 in a little over four days in January to aid Haiti Earthquake
Relief efforts.
Students, teachers, and
other staff from all four buildings brought in their dollars and change
and steadily the total rose to more than $4,500, all of which has been
donated to the American Red Cross, where it will aid the earthquake
victims in many ways.

Every day SWEA members
encourage students in the themes of respect, responsibility, and caring
in our own community, in conjunction with the district’s Character
Education Initiative. The Haitian earthquake disaster brought home the
idea that our community can help the larger world, too. “During times
like this, we must remember that we are a global community without
borders, and that our fellow world neighbors need our help,” said Steve
Kreps, SWEA President.
